Governor Calls Upon People to Fulfil Their Responsibility Towards Nature on Himalayan Day

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) extended his warm greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on Himalayan Day. In his message, the Governor said that the Himalayas are our invaluable natural heritage. The mountain range is not only blessed with immense natural beauty and rich biodiversity, but also represents our spiritual, cultural and geographical heritage.
He said that the Himalayas are the foundation of life in Uttarakhand. The culture, traditions, rivers, agriculture and lives of the people of the state are deeply connected with the mountains. For centuries, the people living in the Himalayan region have followed a tradition of living in harmony with nature. Today, there is a need to integrate this tradition with modern development. Development in the hills should ensure employment opportunities and better facilities for local communities while avoiding unnecessary pressure on the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
The Governor said that the Himalayas provide us with water, forests and precious natural resources, and in return, we must fulfil our responsibility towards nature. Even small efforts such as conserving water, protecting forests, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper waste management can make a significant contribution towards protecting the Himalayas.
The Governor appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to understand their responsibility towards the Himalayas and make conservation of nature a priority in their daily lives. He said that only through the collective efforts of the government, society and every individual citizen can we protect and preserve the Himalayas and ensure that this invaluable heritage remains safe, sustainable and prosperous for future generations.
