    Publish Date: September 8, 2025

The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), has extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Himalaya Diwas.

In his message, the Governor said that the majestic Himalayas are an invaluable treasure — not only a reservoir of natural beauty and biodiversity but also a symbol of India’s spiritual, cultural, and geographical pride.

Highlighting the challenges of climate change, deforestation, melting glaciers, and pollution, the Governor emphasized that these issues pose serious threats to Himalayan ecology. He urged that concrete efforts must be made to conserve water, forests, and land, ensure the cleanliness of Himalayan rivers, promote afforestation, and actively engage local communities in environmental protection.

The Governor called upon the people of Uttarakhand to take a pledge on Himalaya Diwas to preserve the mountains’ beauty, biodiversity, and environment for future generations.
