Governor Meets Chairman of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank, Reviews Annual Report
Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), met with Mr. Harihar Patnaik, Chairman of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank, at Raj Bhawan on Friday. During the meeting, Mr. Patnaik presented the Bank’s 13th Annual Report.
He briefed the Governor on the Bank’s initiatives during 2024–25, including extending banking services to remote and rural areas, strengthening self-help groups, promoting self-employment, providing easy credit to farmers, and expanding digital banking facilities.
The Governor emphasized that in a hill state like Uttarakhand, the role of a rural bank is vital for strengthening the rural economy, ensuring inclusive financial services, and contributing to the state’s overall progress. He urged the Bank to further enhance its reach in border and remote regions, increase youth- and women-oriented employment schemes, and actively support development-related projects.
The Governor suggested recognising and honouring outstanding employees for their work and stressed the importance of awareness and outreach so that no citizen of the state is deprived of banking services.
Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Amita Raturi, GM; Mr. Mahipal Dasiula, AGM; and Mr. Harish Kandari, Senior Manager (Planning) of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank.
