As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme has commenced in Uttarakhand. In this connection, from Monday onwards, the process of distributing enumeration forms to all voters in Nainital district through door-to-door visits has begun.
The campaign was formally launched at Lok Bhavan, Nainital, where the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) handed over an enumeration form to the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.).
On this occasion, officials informed that under the Special Intensive Revision programme, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every voter’s residence to distribute enumeration forms. Voter details will then be verified and updated according to the prescribed procedures.
This campaign is an important step towards making the electoral roll more accurate, updated, and error-free, ensuring that the names of all eligible citizens are included in the voter list.
Present on the occasion were Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Rai, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nawazish Khalik.
