    08-02-2022:Governor held a meeting with the office bearers of the prestigious cultural organization SPIC MACAY at Raj Bhawan.

    An advisory board is being constituted at Raj Bhawan for the promotion of classical music, dance, art, culture, especially the local fine arts of Uttarakhand. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) will be the chairman of this advisory board of about 15 members. The members of the advisory board will include Vice Chancellors of state universities, reputed private universities, eminent personalities from social, educational and various other fields of Uttarakhand. Priority will be given to the preservation of traditional music, dance, culture, heritage and arts of Uttarakhand and promotion of fine arts among children and youth by the Advisory Board. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) held a detailed meeting with the officials of the prestigious cultural organization SPIC MACAY in this regard at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday regarding the action plan of this advisory board.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that children living in remote areas, hilly districts of Uttarakhand should also get training in classical songs, music, dance and various arts . The Governor said that the message about burning issues of the state like reverse migration, women empowerment, preservation of local culture should reach the public through fine arts. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that research & development (R&D) on the cultural, religious heritage, traditional dances, music and various arts of Uttarakhand would be encouraged on priority basis by this advisory board of Raj Bhawan. It is noteworthy that the meetings of this advisory board will be held thrice a year. In this direction, a conference of classical music and dance will be organized at Raj Bhawan. In this conference, eminent classical singers, musicians, dancers of the country and 20-20 school children from each district of the state will be invited. The Governor said that India’s 2500 years old traditions, culture, arts and civilization have been very glorious. It is a matter of happiness that we are now returning to our rich culture, civilization and traditions. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that a revolution should be done in the field of ideology through fine arts like song, music, dance. Social messages should be conveyed to the common people through arts. Nationalism and patriotism in children should also be developed through arts. He said that Uttarakhand is a culturally rich state. The folk culture and arts here are unique. The new generation of the state should take initiative to preserve the cultural heritage and arts of Uttarakhand. These should be propagated through digitalisation, social media, mass media.

    Smt. Rupinder Mahendru, Smt. Anjali, Shri Abhishek and other officials from SPIC MACAY organization were present in the meeting.
