On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Uttarakhand State Formation Day, a high tea program was organized at Raj Bhawan. The event was graced by Hon’ble Governor Lt. Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Ministers, MLAs, other dignitaries, and senior administrative officials.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble Governor and Chief Minister jointly released two books published by the State Information Commission.
The first book, titled “Empowered Citizens: Successful Democracy – 20 Years of the Right to Information Act in Uttarakhand,” compiles messages and articles from former and current Chief Information Commissioners, State Information Commissioners, officers of the Commission, and the Administrative Academy, Nainital. The compilation highlights the initial efforts made to effectively implement the Right to Information Act in Uttarakhand and presents a summary of the Commission’s achievements over the past 20 years.
The second book, published as a “Guidebook,” presents the provisions of the Act in a simplified, comprehensible, and practical form. It aims to ensure that the process of filing information requests, their disposal, and appeals are completed efficiently within the prescribed timeframe. This guidebook will serve as a practical reference document not only for Public Information Officers and First Appellate Authorities but will also make the process of obtaining information more accessible and structured for common citizens.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble Governor and Chief Minister also released the book “History of Uttarakhand” authored by Shri O.C. Handa. The book narrates the rich history and culture of Uttarakhand in a simple manner, covering its journey from the Katyuri, Chand, and Garhwal dynasties to the present day. Based on folk tales, this book connects readers to the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi.
