The Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), unveiled the Coffee Table Book titled “Summits: The Journey of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank” at Lok Bhavan on Saturday. On the occasion, he congratulated all the officers and employees of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank for this significant initiative.
The Coffee Table Book, “Summits: The Journey of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank,” presents a concise account of the journey beginning from the legacy of Regional Rural Banks established in 1983 to the formation of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank in 2012. The publication highlights the bank’s growth, financial inclusion initiatives, technological innovations, empowerment of Self-Help Groups and women entrepreneurs, as well as its achievements and vision for the future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that systematic documentation of the journey of any institution is extremely important. It not only preserves past achievements but also provides direction for the future. He expressed confidence that the Coffee Table Book published by Uttarakhand Gramin Bank would effectively present the bank’s remarkable journey, its achievements, and its contributions to society.
The Governor noted that Uttarakhand is a mountainous state where geographical conditions often pose challenges. In such areas, ensuring banking services reach the last mile is crucial. In this regard, Uttarakhand Gramin Bank has made commendable efforts and has played a significant role in connecting people in rural areas with the formal banking system.
He further stated that through such publications, the bank’s work and achievements should reach a wider audience. He suggested that the Coffee Table Book be shared with public representatives, district officials, and individuals associated with Self-Help Groups across the state so that they may better understand the bank’s role and contributions.
Appreciating the initiative, the Governor said that the Coffee Table Book would serve not only as a valuable record of the bank’s distinguished journey but also as a source of inspiration for society.
On the occasion, Chairman of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank Shri Hari Har Patnaik, GM (Administration) Smt. Amita Raturi, GM (Network) Smt. Bharti Naudiyal, GM (Network and Audit) Shri Rajiv Prakash, GM (Vigilance and IT) Shri Ashish Gupta, and other officials were present.
