06-08-2025 : The Governor received information on relief and rescue operations from senior officials of the administration, police, army and ITBP in view of the Uttarkashi disaster at Raj Bhawan.

In light of the ongoing disaster in Uttarkashi, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday to review the progress of relief and rescue operations. Senior officials from the administration, police, Army, and ITBP were present to provide updates.
The Governor emphasized that the immediate focus must remain on search, rescue, and relief efforts. He assured that there will be no shortage of resources and directed officials to promptly assess the on-ground needs and mobilize the necessary machinery and equipment. He also noted that the Government of India stands fully prepared to extend all possible support during this critical time.
Principal Secretary Shri R.K. Sudhanshu informed the Governor that relief teams and essential resources have been rapidly deployed. However, he acknowledged that adverse weather conditions continue to pose significant challenges to ground operations. Personnel from the Army, ITBP, BRO, SDRF, and local police are actively engaged in the rescue mission at the disaster site.
DGP Mr. Deepam Seth reported that over 300 police personnel, including senior IPS officers, have been dispatched to the affected area. GOC Sub Area, Major General M.P.S. Gill, confirmed that the Army helipad near Harshil remains operational and will be instrumental in accelerating rescue efforts as weather permits.
Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Mr. Vinod Kumar Suman presented a detailed briefing on the relief work carried out so far. Also present were ADG Mr. A.P. Anshuman, Home Secretary Mr. Shailesh Bagoli, and ITBP DIG Mr. Barinderjit Singh.
The Governor reiterated his deep concern for the affected families and expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved.
