The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), participated on Friday in the “Pariksha Pe Charcha–2026” programme of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Oasis School, Raipur, Dehradun.
Addressing the students on the occasion, the Governor said that “Pariksha Pe Charcha” not only addresses the concerns and doubts of students, but also inspires parents and teachers to adopt a positive mindset. He advised students not to consider examinations as a burden, but to view them as an opportunity to assess their knowledge and abilities. He emphasised that students should compete not with others, but with themselves, striving to become better versions of who they were yesterday.
The Governor stated that the achievement of any goal is not possible merely by dreaming, but requires clear objectives, firm determination, discipline, and consistent effort. He said that connecting willpower with continuous action is the key to success. He added that examinations are not just a means of scoring marks, but an opportunity to develop the ability to think, understand, and take correct decisions. He stressed that understanding the question properly is essential, as clarity of the question leads to a correct and meaningful answer.
The Governor encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones and accept challenges, stating that self-confidence is built only through hard work.
Highlighting action and duty as the fundamental principles of life, the Governor said that every action inevitably yields a result. He noted that the true competition in life is not with others, but with oneself—to improve every day. Such a mindset, he said, shapes responsible citizens and ensures meaningful participation in nation-building.
Secretary to the Governor Shri Ravinath Raman, Director SCERT Smt. Vandana Garbyal, School Chairman Shri Rakesh Oberoi, Director Shri Raghav Oberoi, Principal Shri Sanjeev Batla, and students of the school were present on the occasion.
