Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Sunday participated in Old Boys Association Meet Program at Sainik School Kapurthala in Punjab on Sunday. It is worth mentioning that Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retired) had studied in Sainik School Kapurthala.
Governor announced Governor’s trophy for bests in Academics on this occasion. The Governor shared his student life experiences and memoir with the students present there. Addressing the program, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retired) said that the Sainik school is a great institution itself. Sainik Schools have prepared hundreds of officers for Indian Armed Forces through National Defense Academy.
The Governor said that it is a matter of pride that now our daughters are also becoming part of the military tradition. Our promising daughters are making country proud while getting significant achievements in every field . This new tradition of the army is going to give a new dimension to girls’ personality. By giving the equal opportunity to the daughters, our country and society will soon become a new example of progress.
The Governor said that every moment of school is important. Education received in school guides us always. Education prepares to face the challenges of life. The Governor said that your training, education and skill will take the country to the new heights of prosperity.
The Governor said that there is a need for zealous and enthusiastic youth to meet the dreams of our country. This country is young. The 65 percent of the youth population, will be contributing to fulfilling young dreams. Military service is a long-term plan. It provides opportunity to serve the country and society for the lifetime. It makes us self-disciplined and hard working. Youth should become responsible citizen.
The Governor said that land of Punjab is the land of knowledge, power and sacrifice of gurus. On this occasion, the Principal, Teachers, former and present Students of the Sainik school Kapurthala were present.
