    On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), today planted a Rudraksha sapling in the premises of Lok Bhawan, Nainital, under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign, conveying a message of environmental conservation. On this occasion, he appealed to people to plant more trees to protect nature, promote a greener environment, and ensure a clean and safe future for coming generations.

    The First Lady, Mrs. Gurmit Kaur, also planted a sandalwood sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, expressing her commitment to environmental protection.

    The Governor stated that environmental conservation should not be limited to a one-day pledge but should become an integral part of our sustainable lifestyle. He urged all citizens to actively participate in the protection and preservation of nature.

    On this occasion, Additional Secretary to the Governor Mrs. Reena Joshi, Deputy Secretary Mr. Laxman Ram Arya, and officers and staff of Lok Bhawan also participated in the campaign by planting trees.
