Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that Forest Service officers have the most important role in the efficient management of forest resources of the country and conservation of wildlife. Forest officers should work with the concept of sustainable development.

Director of Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy Shri Bharat Jyoti and Additional Director Shri Sushil Kumar Awasthi met Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at Raj Bhawan on Saturday.

Shri Bharat Jyoti informed the Governor about the various progress works of Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy. Governor said that Forest Service officers should be given adequate training in modern technology, artificial intelligence, digitization, satellite technology etc. for efficient management of forests and forest assets. Forest officials will have to ensure the participation of local people in the conservation of forests. They have to develop the mindset to work in coordination with the villagers and local people. The forest officials will also be benefited from the traditional experiences of the local people.
