Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the centenary celebrations of the All World Gayatri Pariwar held in Haridwar today as the Chief Guest. Appreciating the role of the All World Gayatri Pariwar and Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, the Governor said that these institutions are not merely academic centres but modern Gurukuls, where education is regarded as a sacred discipline.
He said that the sacred land of Haridwar and the divine presence of River Ganga serve as sources of resolve, devotion, and the spirit of public welfare. Praising the leadership of Dr. Chinmaya Pandya, the Governor said that he is guiding society towards a new direction by harmonising spirituality with modernity.
The Governor said that the Akhanda Jyoti is not just a flame—it is a living symbol of the spirit of Akhand Bharat, the awakening of Dharma, and India’s spiritual essence. Its light conveys messages of truth, morality, and unity. He added that the motto “Hum badlenge, yug badlega” is not merely a slogan but an inspiring call that transforms society from within.
The Governor said that the service-oriented functioning of the Gayatri Pariwar is a model for Haridwar and the entire state of Uttarakhand. He stated that the values of moral upliftment, service, and cleanliness nurtured by the organisation represent a significant contribution to nation-building. He commended the dedication, discipline, and commitment of all volunteers.
Presiding over the ceremony, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Rajarajeshwarashram Maharaj said that the roots of Indian culture lie in the Guru–Shishya tradition. “The Guru is the potter and the disciple the pot. The Guru shapes life by giving gentle taps from outside and support from within.” He said that parents, teachers, and the divine form a single continuous stream in Sanatan culture.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chinmaya Pandya said that the centenary year has brought a remarkable confluence of auspicious opportunities for the global community. He stated that Vandaniya Mataji was a guiding force for women’s awakening and self-respect, recognising women as the foundation of family and society.
On this occasion, MLA Madan Kaushik, Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, and Rashtriya Sah-Sangathan Mahamantri Shri Shiv Prakash shared their views. District Magistrate Mayur Dikshit, SSP Pramendra Dobhal, Administrator Yogendra Giri, Aditya Kothari, educationists, district officials, social workers, and members of the media were also present.
