04-10-2025:Governor heard various problems of common citizens including ex-servicemen under the public meeting programme organised.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) listened to the grievances of ex-servicemen and general citizens during the Jan Milan programme organized at Raj Bhawan on Saturday and assured them of prompt redressal.
The Governor said that the purpose of the Jan Milan programme is to directly hear the concerns of the public—especially ex-servicemen and their dependents—and to ensure their timely resolution. He instructed officials to treat each grievance with seriousness and to forward them immediately to the concerned District Magistrates and departmental officers for time-bound action.
During the event, Mrs. Ganga Devi from Dehradun expressed her gratitude to the Governor. She had been a victim of property fraud amounting to ₹29 lakh. After submitting her petition to Raj Bhawan, her entire amount was refunded by the property dealer following Raj Bhawan’s intervention. Calling it her life’s hard-earned savings, she extended heartfelt thanks to the Governor.
A total of 11 people from the districts of Rudraprayag, Almora, Haridwar, and Dehradun presented issues related to land disputes, fraud, employment, development works, and financial assistance before the Governor.
The Governor, after carefully hearing all complaints, remarked that most issues are minor in nature but cause unnecessary hardship to citizens when not addressed in time. He directed officials to ensure that such matters are resolved promptly, fairly, and on a priority basis.
