Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya participated in the program organized by Dev Sanskriti University on the occasion of golden jubilee year of Gaytri Tirath Shanti kunj on Wednesday virtually. Theme of the program was women empowerment. Addressing the event Governor Smt. Maurya said that women participating in Tokyo Olympic 2021 made us proud. Women players are performing excellently in the ongoing Olympics. They made the country proud. Women are doing best in every field including politics, sports. Women had an important place in society in Vedic period. Women have shown great courage on various occasions. Men and women are not competitors, they can help each other.
Governor Smt. Maurya said that women were considered weak due to the negative approach of some people. Entire society and nation had to pay for it. Raja Rammohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Dayanand Sarswati, Swami Vivekanand, Maharshi Arvind and Pandit Shriram Sharma worked for women empowerment. Swami Vivekanand had said that empowerment of women can make the future of the country bright. No society or country can become developed until their women are empowered.
Governor Smt. Maurya said the thoughts of Pt. Shriram Sharma are still relevant. According to him half of the society would become infirm if women are not empowered. Governor Smt. Maurya shared her experiences of how her family, especially father , supported and encouraged her. Governor added that progress of the country may not be possible without the progress of women.
Governor said that women empowerment is not only the responsibility of the Government but society is also responsible. Women have to be aware of their rights and opportunities. Men have to support the women also. Various social and religious organizations can play a very important role in this regard.
Governor said that educational institutions have a very important role in women empowerment. Education is a powerful medium of women empowerment.
