    04-01-2022:Volunteers of Redcross should be increased – Governor

    Dr. MS Ansari, General Secretary and other officials of Indian Redcross Society, Uttarakhand met the Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) held detailed discussions with the Indian Redcross Society regarding the status of the Redcross in the state of Uttarakhand and its strengthening. Governor said that efforts should be made to increase the number of volunteers of Redcross. More and more people should join the Redcross. Especially the students studying in colleges should become its members. Emphasis should be laid on formation of Junior and Youth Redcross in all the districts of the state. so that spirit of service can be inculcated in the minds of the students. Redcross and Disaster Management Department should jointly train the students of higher educational institutions and colleges of the state in first aid, disaster management training and road safety.

    The Governor said that the Redcross has been formed for the service of humanity. From the word Redcross, the feeling of service comes in the mind.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that in view of the possibilities of infection of the new variant Omicron of covid, it is necessary to create awareness among the public about strict adherence to the Covid protocol. All volunteers of the Redcross have to face this challenge of Omicron with new energy and determination.
