    Governor Reviews Product Exhibition by Women Self-Help Groups

    The talent, innovation, and self-reliance of women are a strong foundation for Uttarakhand’s development: Governor

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) reviewed a product exhibition organized by women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at Lok Bhavan, Nainital, on Wednesday. The exhibition featured products displayed by women SHGs from the development blocks of Bhimtal, Kotabagh, Dhari, Ramgarh, Haldwani, and Ramnagar in Nainital district.

    The Governor examined a variety of products on display, including wooden handicrafts, Aipan art, bakery products, pickles, jams, spices, and other handicraft items. He appreciated the women’s creativity, product quality, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. Visiting various stalls, he interacted with the participants and gathered information about their work, production processes, and marketing activities. On this occasion, he also honored women who had achieved the status of “Lakhpati Didi.”

    Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the women of Uttarakhand are writing a new chapter of self-reliance through their hard work, dedication, talent, and determination. He remarked that women possess remarkable creativity, productivity, and a spirit of innovation, which make them unique.

    Expressing his satisfaction, the Governor noted that compared to last year, there has been a significant improvement in the quality, presentation, and diversity of products produced by Self-Help Groups.

    He further stated that women have not limited themselves to product manufacturing alone; they have expanded their scope of work by focusing on quality enhancement, digitalization, marketing, and understanding consumer needs. According to him, this transformation reflects their growing confidence and commitment to continuous excellence.

    The Governor encouraged women entrepreneurs to pay special attention to product packaging, branding, and digital marketing. He emphasized that in today’s competitive environment, merely producing a product is not enough; its uniqueness, attractive presentation, and effective marketing are equally important for success. He also motivated women to adopt greater value addition and innovation in their products.

    The event was attended by First Lady Mrs. Gurmit Kaur, Nainital Chief Development Officer Arvind Pandey, Assistant Project Director Mrs. Chandra Fartyal, District Development Officer Gopal Giri Goswami, members of Self-Help Groups, and other dignitaries.
