    02-10-2025 : Governor pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) paid floral tributes to the portraits of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of their birth anniversaries at Raj Bhawan on Thursday. A prayer meeting was also organized in the presence of the Raj Bhawan family.

    Artists from Bhatkhande Music College, Dehradun, presented renditions of Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite bhajans, including “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye,” “Shri Ram Chandra Kripalu Bhaj Man,” “Thumak Chalat Ramchandra,” “Payo Ji Maine Ram Ratan Dhan Payo,” and “De Di Humein Azadi Bina Khadag Bina Dhaal.”

    The Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi paved the way of truth and non-violence for the entire world. His ideals remain equally relevant today, and the youth, in particular, must draw inspiration from them.

    Remembering former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Governor stated that his life, marked by simplicity and humility, continues to inspire all of us. He urged that we should learn from the thoughts and ideals of these great personalities and remain committed to building a developed and Vishwaguru India.

    On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Finance Controller Mrs. Tripti Srivastava, and other officers and staff of Raj Bhawan were present.
