Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra Celebrated at Lok Bhavan

A cultural programme was organised at the Lok Bhavan Auditorium on Saturday to mark the Foundation Day (May 01) of the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Members of Gujarat Samaj Samiti, Haridwar Gujju Parivar, Maharashtra Samaj Samiti, and other participants attended the event.
On this occasion, artists from both states presented captivating cultural performances. The programme showcased the rich folk traditions, music, and cultural heritage of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The performances were appreciated by Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and the audience present.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised the cultural presentations and said that the event was a vivid reflection of India’s diversity and rich traditions. He noted that the performances beautifully conveyed devotion, dedication, and emotional depth.
The Governor emphasized that India’s civilization, culture, folk songs, and music are invaluable heritage that must be preserved. He highlighted the role of families, stating that when children, youth, and elders come together on one platform to celebrate culture, it generates a positive energy in society.
Referring to India’s tradition of unity in diversity, the Governor said that the country’s languages, attire, cuisine, and cultural traditions are its greatest strengths. Reiterating the vision of national unity and collective progress, he emphasized the importance of coordination and a nation-first approach. He added that staying connected to one’s roots and traditions defines true identity and that such programmes play a vital role in strengthening national integration, cultural harmony, and social cohesion.
The event was attended by First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Special Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Additional Secretary Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande, IG Anant Shankar Takwale, and representatives of Gujarat Samaj Samiti including Anand Modha, Rajesh Pathak, Hari Bhatt, and Mahendra Bhatt. The programme was conducted by Finance Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava.
