Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) held a courtesy meeting with State Election Commissioner Shri Sushil Kumar at Lok Bhavan on Thursday. During the meeting, the State Election Commissioner presented the Governor with the report and a coffee table book on the Urban Local Bodies General Elections 2024–25.

Briefing the Governor about the report, the State Election Commissioner informed him that it contains detailed data and analysis related to the urban local body elections. The coffee table book highlights not only the electoral process but also public participation and the dedication, trust and commitment of the officers and employees deployed on election duty. Through photographs from different parts of Uttarakhand, it also presents the scale and diversity of the local body elections across the state.

The Governor appreciated the report and the coffee table book and said that elections are a fundamental process of democracy, in which voters as well as the officers and employees involved in conducting the elections play an important role. He said that such documents are valuable in preserving the experiences, data and public participation associated with the electoral process.
